Pythagoras Theorem

Pythagoras Theorem:In any right angled triangle, the square made on the longest side (Hypotenuse) is equal to the sum of the squares made on the remaining two sides (Perpendicular and Base).

Mathematically:

1) h2 = p2 + b2

Similarly:

2) p2 = h2 - b2

3) b2 = h2 - p2

Square Root by Division Method

Here, we are going to discuss to find the square root by Division Method. This method is useful to find the
square root more easily if the numbers are bigger(number having three or more digits).

#Part 1 Here, we discuss to find the square root of a number having 3 or 4 digits:

Watch this video then solve the questions given below.

Try This

 Q. Find the square root of the following:

        a) 225    b) 1089    c) 6561    d)  961

#Part 2 Here, we discuss to find the square root of a number having more digits:

Q. Find the square root of the following:

a) 95481        b) 207936        c)502681        d) 1550025

Square and Square Root (Exercise)

Square of a number : When a number is multiplied by itself then that product is called square of a number.

                   For example: Square of 3 = (3)2 = 3x3 = 9

Note: Square of negative number is always positive.

                  For example: Square of  (-5) = (-5)2 = -5 x -5 = (+ 25)

Square Root : When a number is multiplied by itself to get the original number, then it is called square root. It is denoted by the symbol √ (Tick) called radical.

For example: Square root of 9 = √9= √3x3  = 3
